IPR PRAHA – RESULTS OF THE HOLEŠOVICE – KARLÍN FOOTBRIDGE ARCHITECTURAL AND DESIGN COMPETITION

A new pedestrian and cyclists’ footbridge will support the citywide interconnection between the city districts of Holešovice and Karlín, while providing convenient and simple access to Štvanice Island.


LANDSCAPING ALTERATIONS TO SWIMMING POOLS IN A TIME OF CHANGE

The exhibition project aims at garden-architectural modifications within the context of the development of public and family swimming pools. By means of numerous contemporary designs and photographs, it focuses on the peak period of development of this phenomenon: the 20th century.


PLACE OF ART  

The exhibition focuses primarily on the activities and performance of artists who studied in the studio of Professor Kurt Gebauer at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. Kurt Gebauer, in his own work and as a lecturer, put an emphasis on working with space, whether it was in a city, a landscape, or a gallery.


TEUFELSSEE

The “Devil’s Lake” panorama captures the events around the Berlin forest lake which is a popular destination for swimmers. The viewer has the opportunity of seeing the popular shore packed with people, from the water.

LANDSKATE 

The exhibition deals with the relationship and interactions of skateboarding and the urban public space. By the presentation of Czech and foreign examples, it presents the typology of the elements and areas, as well as, for example, the current situation in the Czech capital, the issues of incorporating skateboarding within strategic city planning and the social aspects associated with it.

IPR PRAHA – RIVER LANDSCAPE

The river does not end at its banks. Its history permeates all layers of the city as well as of the country. IPR Praha has prepared an exhibition on the river landscape and its significance. Installations on the Štvanice shore change, just like the river itself.

PUBLIC SPACE CZ

The exhibition demonstrates the development of urban public spaces in the Czech Republic after 1989. More than 60 renovated or newly-created squares, streets, parks, as well as works of art and events in public spaces are interpreted in terms of their physical form, social content and cultural significance.

REDEVELOPMENT OF ŽIŽKOV IN THE 1970s AND 1980s

Žižkov restoration was already planned in the 1960s. Žižkov was intended to undergo a radical transformation. No old houses, no Viktorka Stadium, no Town Hall. Only prefabs with a highway running through the centre.
