Exhibition of successful transformations of industrial buildings for new uses, which was prepared in collaboration with the Research Centre for Industrial Heritage FA CTU Prague, led by Benjamin Fragner.
The exhibition presents artworks and small architecture, which became part of the Norwegian landscape and public space. Norway´s continual care of the cultural landscape and public space through unique artistic and architectural achievements is a specific feature that enhances the lives of local communities and fascinates visitors from abroad. The exhibition was closed on 13. 8. 2019.
The outdoor Design+kilometres exhibition will present examples of a number of infrastructure construction design solutions from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. It will detail the process of their creation, from the initial designs to the ultimate finished works. The exhibition will offer a fascinating insight into the ways in which design concepts are applied for large-scale projects.
The exhibition offers visitors analyses and reflections on the concept of interconnecting Ostrava city centre and Dolní oblastí Vítkovice, the potential of the river Ostravice, and future development solutions for the area around the city’s bay areas. Design concepts were devised as part of a student workshop jointly held by four universities, with the resulting panels produced by students from Mendel University in Brno.
The exhibition demonstrates the development of urban public spaces in the Czech Republic after 1989. More than 60 renovated or newlycreated squares, streets, parks, as well as works of art and events in public spaces are interpreted in terms of their physical form, social content and cultural significance.
The exhibition deals with the relationship and interactions of skateboarding and the urban public space. By the presentation of Czech and foreign examples, it presents the typology of the elements and areas, as well as, for example, the current situation in the Czech capital, the issues of incorporating skateboarding within strategic city planning and the social aspects associated with it.
The exhibition presenting inspirational examples from Germany solves the possible ways of implementation of the local tested and functional approaches to the Czech environment. The exhibited projects are intended to serve as a pattern to the contemporary possibilities of revitalization of the former industrial use.
