The Czech-German Summer School of Architecture in Kadan and Aue invites architecture students to participate in an intensive program focused on the theme of viewpoints and modern places of pilgrimage. The summer school connects the cities of Kadan and Aue, which are linked not only by partnership ties, but also by the St. James Pilgrimage Trail - specifically the ErzCamino route through the Ore Mountains.
Participants will jointly seek new ways to revitalise pilgrimage routes through sensitive architectural interventions reflecting the needs of contemporary society. The programme includes lectures, discussions, excursions to important architectural monuments of the region, practical workshops and a public presentation of the results. One day will be dedicated to a visit to the twin city of Aue.
The summer school will offer an intensive five-day programme of lectures, discussions, excursions to important architectural monuments of the region, Students will work with professionals, public administration representatives and experts from both sides of the border on proposals for the development of public space and landscape in relation to the theme of the summer school. Local communities from Kadan and Aue will also be involved in selected activities.
3/ date and place
When? The summer school will take place on 7 -13 July 2025 Where? In the city of Kadan in Northwest Bohemia and one day in the city of Aue in West Saxony. Accommodation is provided free of charge in Kadan. The condition of participation is knowledge of English language.
The resulting projects will be presented at a public exhibition that will further develop the theme of viewpoints and modern pilgrimage sites.
